We typically use several different words to describe a move of God among us:

visitation

revival

harvest

reformation

Each of the above has a different meaning. We are expecting them all to happen very soon.

The United States has many problems affecting every area of society. Economic problems will become more severe. Natural disasters will also worsen as God attempts to awaken this nation.

There is hope. God’s ultimate intention is that we repent so that we can enter into the purpose God has for us (Isaiah 1:21-26l 2 Chronicles 7:13-14; Joel 2:12-14).

Is Father’s Day in the Bible?

The end times are a season devoted to reconciling fathers and children (Malachi 4:1-6).

1. How do we explain that Jesus said John was Elijah (Matt 11:14), and yet John denied it (John 1:21)? The Holy Spirit was thinking about John in Malachi 4:5 (Luke 1:17).

2. Who are the two witnesses (Rev 11:3-6)?

It is commonly believed that Moses and Elijah are the two witnesses. Some think it will be Enoch and Elijah. There ministry will be reminiscent of Elijah (rain in 1 Kings 17; fire in 1 Kings 18 and 2 Kings 1). It could also be two people on the earth today.

In either case, their purpose is to bring reconciliation (Malachi 4:6)

3. We need Moseses and Elijahs in every generation (2 Tim 3:1-2). Bringing reconciliation between fathers and children is part of the end time revival message. Unless reconciliation takes place, the land will be cursed, i.e. devoted to destruction (Mal 4:6).

Why is this reconciliation so important to God?

1. Someone who rejects his father, rejects God (Romans 13:1-2).

2. Reconciliation is part of the healing process needed to build the family of God in unity (John 17).

Fathers also have a responsibility.

1. Their role is to discipline, instruct, and pray for their children (Heb 12:3-9).

2. The hottest social issues in the U.S. are a result of children dishonoring their fathers.

How does a child honor his father (Malachi 1:6)?

1. Listen (Jer 35:14-17).

2. Do not look upon their failures, but cover them (Genesis 9:20-25).

2. Shekinah refers to God’s abiding presence, usually signifying some kind of manifestation.

3. His presence scatters His enemies (Numbers 10:33-35); Psalm 27:1-6; 108:1-6). His enemies include things like fear, complacency, self-indulgence, etc.

Praise and worship is first of all, the giving of thanks.

1. Refer to the story of the leper who came back to thank Jesus for healing him (Luke 17:11-21). Where are all the “believers” who have been healed, saved or delivered? Why do they not come and give Him praise?

2. Entering His gates with thanksgiving and His courts with praise describes the initial stages of a progression into the Holy of Holies, the place where the glory of God dwells (Psalm 100:1-4).

3. The primary function of a priest is to minister to God (Exodus 28:1).

The church is a nation of priests. The church performs her priesthood ministry as a spiritual house, describing the corporate nature of her ministry to God (1 Peter 2:5).

Sacrifices of praise are a soothing aroma to God (Genesis 8:21). Why? They comfort Him (Genesis 6:3, 13). They remind Him of the sacrifice of His Son. When we, the fruit of Christ’s work, give praise to God, He is again reminded of the sacrifice His Son.

When we praise God corporately, we participate in the divine exchange between the Father and the Son as Jesus gives praise to the Father (Hebrews 2:9-13).

God responds to praise.

1. (Zeph 3:14-17) For God to “rest” or “be quiet” (v. 17) seems incongruous with Him exulting over us and rejoicing “with shouts of joy”. The Hebrew word “rinnah” can also be translated “speechless” or “ringing cry”. God is so moved by our praise (v. 14), and He loves us so much (v. 17), that He is speechless, and He can only let out a ringing cry.

Responses to the call to maturity

The call (Eph 4:13-16)

1. Love is the key, the defining characteristic of Christian maturity (Eph 3:16-19). Christ’s indwelling is the goal, involving a process.

2. Loving others perfects His love in us (1 John 4:12, 16, 17),
giving us confidence in judgment (1 John 4:17)
accomplishing the same as 2 Cor 3:18

Responses to the teaching on maturity

1. Intellectual Christian: Put off by all the talk about intimacy. “I love God; I’m faithful; I serve Him.” They are like the believers at Ephesus (Rev 2:4) who had forsaken their first love.

Beholding His glory

(2 Cor 3:18) God’s end-time warriors, mighty men, are in a process of transformation. How are they transformed, by beholding the glory!

1. What is glory? The nature of the Father (John 17:22-23).

2. John beheld the glory (1 John 1:1-3). How are we to behold the glory?

read the Scriptures (John 5:39-44), they testify (Luke 24:27-32)

meditate on the Word (Psalm 119:48, 78, 97-99, 148)

meditate on Jesus throughout the day (Psalm 63:6; Heb 12:1-2) and wait on God (2 Cor 3:18)

obey the word (James 1:22-24)

Paul helped others be transformed.

How? Through prayer and instruction (2 Cor 10:4-5)

Love accomplishes the same as 2 Cor 3:18.

Why bother?

This is the purpose of our existence (1 John 4:7, 12, 16-17)

1. Perfect love supersedes the gifts of the Holy Spirit (1 Cor 13:8-11).

At that point, you will know what God created you to be.

Why wait until heaven? The gifts of the Holy Spirit are partial empowerments likened to the immaturity of childhood. Perfected love is likened to becoming a mature man.

2. The process of transformation (2 Cor 3:18)

What is the glory of the Lord? It is the nature of the Father. It was given to Jesus, and He gives it to us (John 17:22-23).

How do we “behold as in a mirror the glory of the Lord”? This is an important key to transformation.

The development of a son of God

Becoming a mature man (Ephesians 4:13-16)

1. There is a corporate call to fullness of power (1 Cor 12:7)

2. There is a corporate call to fullness of wisdom (Exodus 28:3; 31:3)

3. We can all individually mature in love and all the fruit of the Holy Spirit (Galatians 5:22)

The process

1. To think it is automatic is an error of monumental proportion. Paul gave his life to preparing others (Col 1:28-29).

2. The hope of glory: Paul was either there or thought he would be (Col 1:27; 2:3).

3. It is obtainable (Col 2:10)

Col 1:28 present every man complete in Christ telios

Col 2:9 in Him all the fullness pleroma

Col 2:10 in Him you have been made complete pleroo

Eph 3:19 be filled up to all the fullness pleroma

Eph 4:13 measure of the stature which belongs to the fullness of Christ pleroma

Revelation accompanying transformation

(1 Cor 13:8-11) A child is immature: incomplete in knowledge, wisdom, and reasoning ability.

(1 Cor 13:12) “I will know fully”. What will I know? God? Will I ever know God fully? the love of God?

1. “then face to face….” When is then? When love is perfected (v. 8-11).

2. I [myself (Greek middle voice)] will know fully [thoroughly, truly]. Know what?

I will know who I am, for love is perfected, and I can see Him face to face.

We do not now know what God has created us to be. No one fully knows his own heart (Jer 17:9). But when love is perfected in us, we will know what it is that God has created us to be.

1. Jesus told us how far: tread on serpents, do greater things, ask what we will (John 14:12-14; 15:7, 16).

2. Who are these people?

Creation is longing for them (Romans 8:19).

(Romans 8:28-32) Are you called? justified? Glorified?

(Ephesians 4:13-16) The fullness of Christ (v. 13) will be manifest on a corporate level. Notice the word “all” in verse 13. The last days church will walk in mature power, wisdom and love (Zech 12:8).
